The access road to the Great St Bernard Pass is open, depending on snow conditions, from early June to mid-October, i.e. during the summer season.
In winter, the Hospice is only accessible on cross-country skis or snowshoes. It takes about 2½ hours to walk there from the square in Bourg-Saint-Bernard (at the start of the road up the pass). Cars can be left in the square at the Swiss exit of the tunnel. There is also a bus service (TMR) connecting Martigny to Bourg-Saint-Bernard.
In winter, the days are short, so please plan to arrive at the Hospice early enough in the afternoon.
We invite you to check the weather forecast and avalanche report below before planning your ascent. Please also confirm your booking by telephone at least the evening before.
